Kill Your Babies: Should I Cut this Prologue Out?
Here’s a little scene-setting prologue I’ve been waffling on. Obviously it needs some work ( Ugh. Passive tense. It’s.) but I think it’s just going out the window. Bestselling horror Novel “Zone One.” Read the First Chapter Here
Recently saw “Zone One” by Colson Whitehead featured on NPR. Thought you might like it. A depopulated Manhattan. And yeah, sure, the central metaphor has been cliche since the original DotD. Not Really a big fan of “psychology” in writing books. But in The Story Book: A Writer’s Guide to Story Development, Principles, Problem-solving and Marketing David Baboulene does a good job of explaining how subtest works and how to best incorporate multiple layers of meaning into your writing. Here’s the Table of contents and a sample of the first chapter. Pay attention to the charts. I kinda like them.
