Coming Soon: Teddy Roosevelt and the Lost World

The Year is 1886. Young Theodore Roosevelt finds himself a cattleman in a west once ruled by great herds of dinosaurs. But there is a monster loose in the Yellowstone Caldera,  one of the last of the fearsome carnivores. Teddy mounts an expedition to rid the land of this great beast, and confronts his own past and, perhaps, his great destiny in this altered landscape.

Kill Your Babies: Should I Cut this Prologue Out?

Here’s a little scene-setting prologue I’ve been waffling on. Obviously it needs some work ( Ugh. Passive tense. It’s.) but I think it’s just going out the window. Not Really a big fan of “psychology” in writing books. But in The Story Book: A Writer’s Guide to Story Development, Principles, Problem-solving and Marketing David Baboulene does a good job of explaining how subtest works and how to best incorporate multiple layers of meaning into your writing. Here’s the Table of contents and a sample of the first chapter. Pay attention to the charts. I kinda like them.
